ECG / Bioimpedence

Cardiovascular activity is monitored through the BIOPAC MP150 system. ECG and ICG are used to derive heart-rate variability (HRV) and pre-ejection period (PEP), non-invasive measures of autonomic function. These measures are commonly recorded during rest or exercise protocols where subjects complete lab-based tasks used to induce a stress response. Stress reactivity and recovery, coupled with biological markers from the APL, are key outcomes from these experiments and allow us to determine the potential influence of fitness and physical activity on stress.
