Patient Sample Collection

The APL is equipped with a dedicated area for the collection and initial screening of human blood, saliva, and muscle biopsy samples. The blood collection area is equipped with four phlebotomy stations, a urine dipstick analyzer, electrolyte testing, automated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and an automated hematology analyer (Medonic M-Series). The sample collection area is located convienently adjacent to the aerobic exercise lab and environmental heat chamber. Graduate students working in the APL have the opportunity to be trained to collect human blood samples.
